We are extremely happy to announce that, following the new guidance from the Scottish Government, we will once again be opening our doors from Monday 10th May!
Discovery Point will lead the way and open on Monday 10th May and will be closely followed by its sister museum, Verdant Works, on Friday 28th May.
Staff at both venues are now working extremely hard to ensure that both Discovery Point and Verdant Works will once again proudly be part of the COVID secure “Good to Go” and new “Safe Travels” schemes – allowing you to discover and explore with confidence and peace of mind. An exciting new outdoor café at Discovery Point will also be unveiled at the time of reopening, giving you the option of pick up and go or to enjoy a break at a new seating area with stunning views of the Discovery and near neighbour V&A Dundee.
Although opening slightly later, Verdant Works will reopen with a blockbuster temporary exhibition that will run through to September 13th 2021. ‘The Scottish Diaspora Tapestry: The Stories of Scots Abroad’ will visit Dundee for the very first time following a worldwide tour. The exhibition brings together artists and communities from 34 countries across the globe. The tapestry explores the numerous connections Scots have with the rest of the world.
Due to its vast size, the Tapestry will be shown in two parts, the first (beginning on May 28th) will showcase the Americas, Canada and Europe whilst the second (arriving mid-June) will feature the UK, Africa, Australasia and Asia. The impressive Tapestry will be displayed in the equally striking 1833 High Mill Gallery.
