‘Making for Antarctica’ with Lonely Mountain Skis and Dundee Heritage Trust
Explore the fascinating world of Antarctic innovation and craftsmanship at Discovery Point, as we welcome Jamie Kunka of Lonely Mountain Skis for a very special talk.
Jamie will discuss the art of wooden ski making, the different ski methods adopted by Captain Scott and Roald Amundsen, and Ali Gellatly of Dundee Heritage Trust will share feats of ingenuity within our Recognised Collections; as crafters experimented with materials and manufacturing for the coldest place on Earth in the early 20th century.
The talk comes following Ben Fogle using skis made by Lonely Mountain Skis, for his recent Antarctic journey.
Date: Saturday 23rd March
