Iceland: Invisible Landscapes, an exhibition of words and images by Bill Duncan
13th January 2024 – 10th March 2024, Discovery Point
We are excited to display Dundee-based artist Bill Duncan’s ‘Iceland: Invisible Landscapes‘ exhibition at Discovery Point from 13th January – 10th March 2024. The exhibition is free to view* and is a visual representation of Duncan’s travels to Iceland.
In 2021 and 2022 Bill Duncan walked the Laugavegur and Fimmvorduhals long-distance trails in the Southern Highlands of Iceland. Staying in mountain huts and equipped with an infrared camera, his photography dramatically conveys the strangeness and otherworldliness of these unique landscapes.
‘Iceland: Invisible Landscapes’ is a love song to the highlands of Southern Iceland, where the effects of climate change increasingly threaten the grandeur of the landscapes.
The exhibition is enhanced by a range of responses featuring paintings, diary entries and poetry inspired by his experiences.
Bill Duncan will present a fascinating Artist Talk at Discovery Point on 27th January 2024 from 2pm, to share the stories of the journeys behind the exhibition, and his extensive career as a writer, artist and photographer. Tickets are free* but are limited – booking is recommended via our Eventbrite.
‘Iceland: Invisible Landscapes’ is on display at Discovery Point, Dundee from 13th January – 10th March 2024 during museum opening hours. No prior booking required to view the exhibition.
*Free exhibition and artist talk entry does not include entry to the rest of the museum, or RRS Discovery. Book your tickets to Discovery Point museum and RRS Discovery at our Plan Your Visit page.
